Search & rescue dog helps pupper pawrent make miraculous snowstorm save after finding her lost doggo who survived for two days in the wild (Video)

Doggos really are man's best friend. Not only that, but they are also best friends to their fellow canines. Dogs can do just about anything, except ignore you while you're eating. Dogs can smell illnesses, protect their owners from potential dangers, and are some of the best snugglers around, but one of their coolest features is being able to find almost anything just by smell alone. This is why service dogs are so important. Some things we would never be able to find on our own, but doggos can track smells from long distances.

After losing her doggo on Christmas Day, one pupper pawrent immediately started asking for help to find her lost canine. Not only that, but it was in the middle of a snowstorm. Luckily, a woman and her search & rescue dog were willing to help. They followed the dog's sense of smell for miles, until eventually, they found her!   • Can you imagine having such an intense sense of smell? We can't. We can barely stand opening the trash can when it's almost full, so to be a dog must be very intense. We read somewhere that a hooman’s nose is like sniffing a single blade of grass on a football field, while a doggo’s nose is like smelling every blade of grass, the footsteps that crossed it, and what snack was dropped at the 50-yard line—all from the end zone.

    Trude had received information from some cabin owners who had seen the dog sleeping on their doorstep when they arrived, but it had fled into the forest as soon as they showed up. The dog had injured its paws, leaving a trail of bl d we could follow The cabin owners had tried to follow the tracks the night before without any luck.

    The deep snow that reached our knees pushed us well beyond our comfort zone, to say the least . Eventually, we reached an area where we lost the trail due to bare ground. At that point, we were completely reliant on Wixen. And once again, Wixen understood her task perfectly...

    Wixen is standing right in front of the missing dog. She's lying under a tree. She gets up quickly, assessing in that moment whether to flee or not. Trude and I have had a plan all along. Since Trude knows the dog, Plan A is for her to try approaching the dog and see if the dog seeks her out.

    Trude, understandably, gets extremely happy when she realizes Wixen and I had found the dog. She is freaking out a bit, and plan A is about to go out the window I realize that my job now is to help her stay calm so we can stick to the plan. Trude follows every instruction perfectly and works like a hero

  • Staying calm was probably a key aspect of this recovery.  The doggo was most likely very frightened and confused, not to mention cold and hungry. Anything, even her owner, might have scared her off again. We're glad they remained calm and were able to go home safe, happy, and healthy!

    herpawgang In this video I'm speaking to the human, and not to the dog. In situations like this it's crucial to stay calm, because the flight risk of the other dog was extremely high. Therefore my main focus was on calming the human down, so hopefully the dog would approach her

    kotokrol27 What I'm really surprised of is that the searching dog is not rushing to communicate with the found dog, it keeps a distance and looks completely not interested in socializing with another dog. That seems amazing to me as normally dogs trying to get to know each other right away. I guess it's a part of training!
